Caribe Bajo, September 2026:
One Table, Half a House
Always Only Jesus · Siempre Solo Jesús
September 2026 Monthly Update
🙏 101,433 Pesos Raised. A House Is Beginning. All Glory to God.
Hey friend,
This month, a dinner table became a foundation. 🏡
Before anything else: thank You, Jesus. Every number in this letter is something God did, and we get to tell you about it.
On Sunday, September 6th, El Huerto Farm to Table opened its doors for Dinner With A Cause, and this community showed up for a family it has never met. Every dollar spent that night went straight toward building a house for a family right here in Los Cabos.
When the night was over, the total came to 101,433 pesos, which is $5,579. Praise God! We give Him all the glory for it. A dinner is just food and chairs until He fills the room with generous hearts. That's the good news we want you to hear first. Below it, you'll find everything else God did in Caribe Bajo this September: sixteen needs answered, a new family welcomed into sponsorship, and a month of storms that couldn't stop the work.
The Good News
Nearly Half of Our Next House Build, in One Night
Starting our next house build takes 210,000 pesos: 110,000 pesos for materials and 100,000 pesos for labor. One dinner just covered almost half of it.

48% of the way to breaking ground
To Victor, David, and the whole El Huerto team: thank you. Year after year, your support and your dedication to this community show up in the most practical way possible, with homes built for neighbors in need. To every member of your staff who served, cooked, and worked so hard that night, we're honored to build alongside you. And to every guest who pulled up a chair, ordered a little extra, and told a friend: you built this with us.
🏡 Help Us Build the Other Half
We still need 108,567 pesos, roughly $5,971, to cover the rest of the materials and labor. Once that's in place, a family that has been living without the security of four solid walls gets a home of its own.
If this moved you the way it moved us, you can give directly to the house build right here. Every gift goes toward this build.
“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established.”

A Water Tank, and a Food Bundle to Go With It
Yulisa received a family food bundle and a brand-new water tank, thanks to the generosity of one of you. Here in Caribe Bajo, water is trucked in, which means a tank isn't a luxury. It's the difference between running out by midweek and having water at home when the family needs it.
Food on the table. Water in the tank. One less worry for a mother to carry through the day.

One Day, Four Families
María, Oliveria, Pilar, and Yara All Got Their Answer on September 23rd
María received baby formula, because a hungry baby can't wait. Oliveria received a brand-new four-burner stove to replace one that had broken. Pilar, in Lagunitas, received a stand-up fan.
And Yara and her family of five in Caribe Bajo were blessed with a four-burner stove and a fan: warmth, nourishment, and relief all at once. Two donors, four families, one day. “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17

Family Sponsorship Program
Welcome to the Family, Hernandez Family
On September 24th, we introduced you to Willian and Teresa and their four children: a sweet 12-year-old daughter starting middle school, a 7-year-old son, and the cutest set of twin girls, about a year and a half old. Willian works hard every day as a painter in construction. Teresa is home with the twins and sells secondhand clothes from home, with big plans to sell chicharrones and tostilocos to help her husband provide. Teresa's dad gave them a little piece of his land, and their dream is to one day build a small room of their own there.
By the next day, they had a sponsor. Their sponsorship began on Wednesday, September 30th, right alongside the rest of our families, and we spent that day shopping together. That's what a year of stability makes possible: kids who stay in school and a mama who can grow her little business.
Your generosity is covering their immediate needs. The Hernandez family has $850 in immediate needs: a tostiloco stand ($300), a bed ($250), a tinaco water tank ($175), a stove ($75), and a bed base ($50). You have given a total of $1,100 toward this family, and we are working hard to get these needs purchased and delivered as soon as possible. Thank You, God, for stirring hearts to give. Keep a watch on our social media for updates.

Welcome to the LCMFC family

Sponsorship shopping day, September 30th
And we still need more of you. We have 17 family applications waiting for review, including one new family that applied this month. Many of them are in need of a one-year sponsorship commitment. If you've been waiting for the right moment to walk alongside a family, this is it.
Weathering It Together
Three Storms, One Faithful God
September tested us. Tropical Storm Maria brought major rains and flooding to Caribe Bajo on the 2nd. On the 14th, the arroyo in front of our community center ran so fast that nobody could cross safely, so we held our food until the water dropped and asked everyone to stay home. And when Hurricane Polo headed our way, we cancelled the Saturday kids program on the 26th, because many of our kids come on their own and their safety comes first.
Every time, you prayed, and every time, we were back at the table as soon as it was safe. Thank you for lifting up our families.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you.”
Isaiah 43:2
Our Volunteer Family
Hands That Crossed an Ocean
Look at their hands: sorting beads, painting faces, sitting at low tables with children who don't share their language but absolutely share their smiles. This is the volunteer family of Los Cabos Missions for Christ. They show up, they serve, and they leave changed. Four new volunteers joined us this month, and we couldn't be more grateful.
Whether you travel from across the border or live right down the road, your time is one of the most powerful gifts you can give.

New to the Family
Eight New Partners Joined Us This Month
September brought eight new donors into this ministry. Welcome, friends. Every one of you is now part of what God is doing in Caribe Bajo, and we can't wait for you to see the difference you're making.
🌮 Over 100 Families Came to the Table for the First Time
This month the comedor served 3,912 meals, and more than 100 families walked through our doors for the very first time. Every one of them is someone God knows by name.
Here's what your monthly gift becomes: every $1 you give turns into 2 meals for a child or family in Caribe Bajo. A plate costs just $0.50, and as more families find us, more plates are needed.
Will you help us keep the line moving? A monthly gift of $25, $50, or $100 through our Sponsor-a-Meal program can be set up in seconds, and you'll know exactly how many meals it provides every month.

Our New Website Is Live 🌅
We rebuilt loscabosmissions.com so you can see what God is doing in Los Cabos as it happens. Sponsor a family, meet a real and specific need through Donation Connect, and watch the comedor numbers update live. Every meal, every family, every need met, shown the moment it happens.
And if you've given to a family's need, you can see exactly where your gift went with our Track My Gift page. Just enter the email you used to donate. And all glory to God for every number these pages show.
🚙 Help Us Bring Home Our Donated Tahoe
A few months ago, God blessed us with a donated Chevy Tahoe. It will help us carry food, supplies, volunteers, and families to the places they need to go. There is one more step: importing it into Mexico costs 43,000 pesos, roughly $2,365.
If you'd like to help us get it on the road and serving, you can give right here. Thank You, Lord, for a gift we never asked for, and we trust You for the rest.

Our donated Tahoe, ready for the road once it's imported
“So let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9
All Glory to God, and Thank You 🙏
Above all, thank You, God, for every need You met this month: a dinner table that became a foundation, a family welcomed into sponsorship, and a community that kept showing up through every storm. Every story in this letter belongs to You first.
And to every donor who comes alongside us, who believes in the calling God has placed on our lives and invests in the future of the families we serve: thank you. This ministry doesn't happen without you.
Ruple Family Update
A Season of Milestones, Road Trips & Family Time
While our daily focus at LCMFC is always on serving families and supporting our community here in Mexico, the past few months have also brought some wonderful milestones and cherished time together as a family.
One of our biggest joys lately has been watching Grace and E thrive together at Kent State University. Both girls have been working hard balancing their classes and jobs in Ohio, and we couldn't be prouder of the young women they are becoming. In fact, we got a fantastic surprise at the end of July when we discovered that E had officially made the Dean's List, even before she realized it herself! Seeing the two of them side by side in Kent, supporting one another and building their futures, is a huge blessing for Jacqueline and me.
Because our family life bridges the miles between Baja and Northeast Ohio, we made sure to pack our time up north this summer with as many memories as possible. Before heading up to Ohio, E kicked off June with a special trip to Maine with her grandparents, complete with a visit to a national park. Once Jacqueline and I arrived in Ohio at the end of June, our calendar filled up fast with the best kind of family chaos:
- Everyday Moments Together: Some of our favorite memories weren't the big events at all, but the simple ones: late-night bowling games at Wickliffe Lanes, morning coffee runs and waffle brunches, fishing by the pond, and gathering with extended family and friends for Fourth of July cookouts, bonfires, and trips out to Nelson Ledges.
- Summer Adventures & Milestones: We celebrated Grace's birthday early in Ohio (her actual birthday is in December) so she could finally go to a special concert she has been wanting to see for the last seven years. We also spent a high-energy day riding roller coasters at Cedar Point and packed up in late August to celebrate E's birthday with a multi-car road trip across the border into Canada and Niagara Falls (fueled, of course, by plenty of Tim Hortons cappuccinos along the way!).

A high-energy summer night at Cedar Point

Niagara Falls, a road trip to remember
Now that Jacqueline and I are back in Baja and the girls are deep into their fall semester at Kent State, we miss them already.
Thank you, as always, for your prayers, encouragement, and for being part of our extended LCMFC family, both in the work we do here in the community and as we cheer our girls on from afar.
