August 2026 Monthly Update
🙏 91 Needs. 91 Answers. All Glory to God.
Hey friend,
This month, we counted the doors we knocked on. 🚪
A quick note before we dive in — we're sorry this newsletter is reaching you a bit later than usual this month. It still covers all of August, front to back, and we didn't want to shortchange any of these stories just to get it out faster.
Ninety-one times in August, someone in Caribe Bajo had a real, specific need — a fridge that quit working, a family sleeping on a concrete or dirt floor with no mattress, formula for a baby who couldn't wait — and ninety-one times, one of you answered it. Not a vague donation into a general fund. A named need, a real family, a gift that landed exactly where it was supposed to.
Below is what that actually looked like this month, item by item, plus a few stories that stuck with us long after the delivery truck pulled away.

A Refrigerator, and a Bag Full of Groceries to Fill It
This month, the DeLeon family and Shantal joined hearts to answer a very specific prayer: a mother of five in Caribe Bajo received a brand-new refrigerator — and groceries to fill it the same day. Eggs, produce, staples, all handed over alongside a working fridge for the first time in longer than she'd like to say.
A refrigerator isn't just an appliance. It's food that stays fresh instead of spoiling by afternoon. It's one less thing a mother has to worry about every single day.

Family Sponsorship Program
Stocked Up Before the Storm Hit
Every last Wednesday of the month, our 16 sponsored families receive $100 worth of groceries — rain or shine, month after month, without fail. This month, the timing became its own quiet blessing: deliveries landed just days before a storm rolled through, which meant every one of those 16 families had a stocked pantry before the weather even turned.
That's the whole point of sponsorship — not a one-time gift, but a steady presence a family can count on, whatever the month brings.
And right now, we need more of you. We're currently working through 21 new family applications, many of whom we will find are desperately in need of long-term, one-year sponsorship commitments. If you've been waiting for the right moment to commit to a family long-term, this is it.

One Day, Three Families
Alejandra, Anayeli, and Jenny All Got Their Answer the Same Day
Alejandra received a brand-new stove and a family food bundle, thanks to the kindness of one donor. A warm meal cooked at home is more than food — it's love and dignity restored.
Anayeli, in Tierra y Libertad, received a refrigerator. Fresh food, healthier meals, and a brighter future are now possible for her family. Jenny received a stove and a family food bundle of her own — her family can now cook nourishing meals every single day.
Three different donors, three different families, one day. “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” — James 2:17

Seven Names Behind This Month's 91
Ninety-one needs don't fill themselves — meet the seven people behind a big share of them this month: Martin, Eric & Wanda, and Kim & Jeff together answered a wave of requests — diapers, wipes, formula, fans, refrigerators — dozens of families blessed in a single week. Jessica & Armando arrived with two truckloads of supplies of their own.

Plus 8 new volunteers who joined our team in August — welcome to the family.
In Their Own Words
What Our New Volunteers Are Saying
We ask every volunteer the same question after their first shift: was there a moment that stayed with you? Rosi, who now serves regularly at our water station, wrote back this:
“My job is usually the water station. If a volunteer comes regular then you start knowing the kids and moms or woman. Some are friendly and smile. Some are more serious and hardly smile, but I also realize how hard their life can be. I try to give them a smile when I can, sometimes a little cuddle or tickle for the babies for the connection.”

That's what a single shift can turn into — not just a task completed, but faces and names you carry with you. If you've been considering volunteering, this could be your next Monday, Thursday, or Saturday.
New to the Family
Eleven New Partners, and the Stories Behind Two of Them
August brought eleven new first-time donors into this ministry — and two of them came with stories we had to share.
Jessica's $144.20 gift came from her son Jackson. Before school started, a stranger offered to buy him a new hat and jersey as a pay-it-forward gesture. Jackson asked to donate the money he would have spent on himself instead — and out of a list of causes, he chose us.
Christina first found us through a friend's tagged Facebook comment and had quietly followed along ever since. After a sermon on tithing stirred something in her, she wrote: “As I was figuring out where to send that money, you guys were the first ones that came to mind.”
Two very different paths, one shared answer to the same call.
🌮 Feeding Program: Almost There
This is one of the biggest needs we carry — and it's closer to fully funded than it's ever been. New monthly commitments this month brought our estimated gap down to just about $80 a week.
Here's what your monthly gift becomes: every $1 you give turns into 2 meals for a child or family in Caribe Bajo. This month alone, the comedor served 4,449 meals — real plates, real families, right on time.
Will you help us close this last gap? A monthly gift of $25, $50, or $100 through our Sponsor-a-Meal program can be set up in seconds — and you'll know exactly how many meals it provides every single month.

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.”
Proverbs 19:17
All Glory to God, and Thank You 🙏
Above all, thank You, God, for every need You met this month through hands that didn't have to say yes, but did. Every story in this letter belongs to You first.
And to every donor who comes alongside us — who believes in the calling God has placed on our lives and invests in the future of the families we serve: thank you. This ministry doesn't happen without you.
